1. Edit the inittab
~>vi /etc/inittab

# The default runlevel X. where X is the run level you need to assign.
id:X:initdefault:

2. Use sysv-rc-conf to cheek the service running in each runlevel.
~>sudo apt-get install sys-rc-conf
~>sys-rc-conf
